Polyethylene foam, referred to among cosplayers as "EVA foam", is used to make cosplay armor. From the shoulder pads, to the giant shields, to the miniature details on the gloves. All this can be made from this foam. You need to choose the right width and size first!
For full body armor you need about 2 and a half plates (200x100cm). For properties such as a helmet, one halved board (100x100cm) is often enough.
For a tip:
To glue this foam, use contact adhesives (e.g. Pattex Chemoprén)
You can use a soldering iron and its attachments to engrave details.
